What to expect

From Johannesburg or Nelspruit you'll fly to Vilanculos, which is located halfway down the coast on mainland Mozambique. On arrival at the small airport you'll arrange your visa at the immigration desk. Your luggage will be taken to the arrival hall with a cart and you'll be able to collect it quickly and easily. When all fellow passengers have checked in, you'll fly in a small plane form Vilanculos to the exotic island of Bazaruto within 15 minutes. Bazaruto is one of the five islands in the Bazaruto archipelago and it only has two hotels, no roads and no stores. In other words, it's an undiscovered and undeveloped pearl in the Indian Ocean.

Especially for those on a Mozambique honeymoon, we've selected an exclusive lodge with friendly staff where you'll feel at home instantly. On arrival you'll receive a flower necklace and you'll be taken to your cosy bungalow on the beach. While enjoying a glass of wine on a private deck chair, you'll be able to watch the sun dip into the sea. Drum rolls will announce dinner in the restaurant. No worrying about what you'll eat: all freshly cooked meals are included. You'll be able to choose from a buffet or meals from a menu. Naturally there will be plenty of fresh fish on the menu.

Mozambique honeymoon - Wine on the beach
Mozambique honeymoon - Go snorkelling

Things to do on this Mozambique honeymoon module

Aside from relaxing quietly on the beach or in the pool, you won't want to miss a snorkelling trip. The lodge will take you in a 4x4 to Dolphin Bay within 10 minutes. You won't find a reef with such colourful fish so close to shore anywhere else. Put on your goggles, flippers and off you go! Want to experience the thrill of water skiing? Try a water ski lesson of about 30 minutes (included during your stay). There are also surf boards, canoes and Hobie Cat sail boats waiting for you; it's all included in this Mozambique honeymoon trip.

Only a short distance from the lodge you'll find hidden bays where the two of you can hide out on your own away from the rest of the world. Ask the friendly staff and they'll arrange for you to go there for a small remuneration. A bed of towels, pillows and umbrellas will be made for you and no one will bother you the entire day. Feel like having a bite to eat? Time to explore the basket with wine and snacks such as fresh gambas, bread and fruit! A boat ride on a Dhow (traditional African sail boat) at sunset will make your romantic day together one to remember....
