This short itinerary combines visits to the most beautiful locations in South Africa with Mozambique in the most adventurous possible way. You'll spend the night on your 4X4 at campsites in Kruger Park and near the beaches of Mozambique.
First you'll trek through Kruger Park in search of the Big 5. However you'll also go horseback riding through Mlilwane. You'll even have a very good chance of seeing swimming hippos and crocodiles in Mlilwane. By way of South Africa you'll drive into the breathtaking sunset at the beaches of Ponto d'Ouro in Mozambique. The highlight of your stay is a visit to the wonderful beaches of Ponta d'ouro where diving conditions are excellent and where you can swim with dolphins. If you would like to visit all of Southern Africa's finest safari parks independently, then this is the itinerary for you. This 17 day 4X4 itinerary will take through 3 countries, across 3500-4000 km in two and half weeks.
This trip begins in South Africa and quite quickly afterwards you'll cross the border into Botswana. Untainted plains and wide open views are dominant during the first part of this trip. The first stop is at the salt plains. The salt plains cover an area of approximately 37,000 km2. This area is great for taking pictures. Then it's time for the world famous Victoria Falls, which you can visit from your base in Livingstone, Zambia. Looking for a real experience? Then go on a flight above the waterfalls. This trip continues towards Chobe and Moremi, the two well known wild parks in Botswana. You'll also pass the Okavango Delta. Finally, by way of the Marakele National Park in South Africa, you'll eventually find yourselves back into Johannesburg. If you have a little more time to spend than necessary for the 15 day itinerary, this is the right trip for you. You'll start off your journey in Kruger Park where you'll sleep under a starry sky and you could possibly even hear lions roar in the distance. However, you'll also pass the very unique country of Swaziland, spend the night in the Mkuze Game Reserve and you'll go on beautiful walks through the Drakensberg.
You'll also travel over the spectacular Sani Pass and you'll visit the elevated kingdom of Lesotho. You'll also travel through the Karoo, visit the ostrich town of Oudtshoorn and venture along the famous Garden Route. Not only will you be able to enjoy wonderful views and see whales, you'll also be able to undertake many other outdoor activities.
