Travel Mozambique- perfect for families

Family snorkelling fun

Travel Mozambique

You can fly from Johannesburg to the coast of Mozambique in only two hours, making it a brilliant place for a few days in the sun after your South Africa holiday. During this module you'll be able unwind and relax on endless white sand beaches. Choosing to travel to Mozambique on your family holiday you won't have to worry about the kids for a second. They can play all day on the broad sandy beach, splash around in the (children's) swimming pool or explore the lodge's game room.

You'll be able to go snorkelling in the warm waters here any time of year and see tropical fish, manta rays and turtles. From November until April you may even encounter whale sharks. You can almost touch these enormous, gentle giants, quite an unforgettable experience. You'll also be able to take a step back in time to when pirates and treasure seekers roamed the seas by visiting the town of Inhambane.

Travel Mozambique- Perfect for a family holiday

The lodge we've selected for our this Mozambique holiday is an enjoyable place to stay for both adults and children. You'll spend 4 nights on the beach in Mozambique, where you'll sleep in family cabins under coconut palms in the tropical garden. From your cabin, it's just a few steps until you reach the beach and the azure blue sea. The traditional-style houses (casitas) are comfortably decorated, with en-suite bathroom with shower and toilet, coffee and tea facilities, mosquito nets and fans (it can get quite warm here). Breakfast and dinner are included during your stay and they'll be served with a view of the sea. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, you'll dine in the beach bar with the tropical sounds of a Mozambican band in the background. You'll find it hard to sit still with this lively music surrounding you - so don't be surprised if you end up dancing on the beach. During the South African national holidays, you'll find many South Africans in Inhambane. Over these time periods, it will be a little busier than normal and you'll be part of a fun crowd of travellers staying at the lodge.

Things to do on this Mozambique travel module

You'll only need to step out of your cabin and you'll be on the beach, ready to relax in one of the beach chairs hidden by thatched umbrellas, perfect for relaxing on your Mozambique travels. The view is incredibly tropical and beautiful. Everywhere you look you'll see long, broad beaches, palm trees and azure waters. From time to time, a local may pass by selling hanidicrafts, and even they are extremely laid-back and not pushy. Hakuna Matata, no worries, that's why you can say no and they understand it...

From the beach you'll be able to snorkel your way through the warm waters and get up close and personal with tropical fish. However, if you would prefer to visit a coral reef to see manta rays, turtles and whale shark, it's best to book a snorkelling or diving excursion at the lodge. This experience is so incredible that divers come from all around the world (between November and April) to experience this.

There's also an activities centre that organises (paid) sea fishing trips, horseback riding, kayaking, beach volleyball games and boat trips. Aside from the regular swimming pool there is also a shallow pool for small children. Somewhat older children can enjoy games of ping pong and pool.
