Travel to Mozambique - Fresh catch of the day

Affordable paradise

Travel to Mozambique

From the Mozambique lodge's terrace you'll be able to sit and watch the fishermen bring in their catch of the day while the sun sets. That same fish can be found on the lodge's restaurant's menu; it doesn't get any fresher than this. In the distance you'll be able to see the paradise-like islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago, the place to travel to Mozambique for couples celebrating their honeymoon. This is the place to be for that Robinson Crusoe feeling. Staying at these tropical islands however isn't a fun experience for your wallet and that's why we've selected accommodation at our lodge on the mainland for this Mozambique holiday. The Mozambique accommodation is affordable and it is only a short boat ride away from paradise. A boat trip to travel to the Mozambique islands is easy to arrange. While on the island you'll be able to lounge around in the warm water of the sea in utter relaxation and have lunch on the magical white deserted beaches. From time to time you may feel like snorkelling and experiencing the feeling of swimming in a tropical aquarium.

What to expect on your Mozambique holiday

It takes about 3 hours to fly from South Africa's Johannesburg to Vilanculos, halfway down the coast of Mozambique (flight not included). Vilanculos is a peaceful fishing village where you'll find African huts and where it seems like time is standing still. While walking down the street you'll run into locals on their way to the market who'll greet you with a smile. There are just a handful of local restaurants and stores and that's it- perfect if you just want to travel to Mozambique and relax in the peace and quiet.

During this Mozambique travel module, you'll spend 4 nights in our small-scale lodge accommodation at the edge of the village, next to a small harbour. From the lodge's restaurant terrace you'll look out over the beach, the azure blue sea and fishing boats. Relaxing in one of the deck chairs by the pool is a wonderful way to pass time and from the garden you're only a small set of stairs away from the beach and a plunge into the warm sea. The beach is broad and beautiful, except in November and December when quite a bit of sea weed washes up onto the shore. Just another reason to go on a boat trip to the white beaches of the Bazaruto Islands! Your room is stylishly decorated and has beds with mosquito netting, a fan, a separate sitting area and your own private bathroom. Breakfast is included during your stay; you can enjoy lunch and dinner in the village. However, if you're looking for the best restaurant in town.... all of the locals will suggest visiting your own lodge. So why not make it easy on yourself...

Things To Do on your Mozambique holiday

One of the most important reasons to to travel to Mozambique's Vilanculos is its vicinity to the paradise-like islands just off the coast. Your Mozambique lodge accommodation can help you easily arrange a day trip with a speed boat (including captain) to take you to the Two Mile Reef. This is the best place to visit for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts. As well as many different types of tropical fish you may also see manta rays, turtles and from November to April, whale sharks. After experiencing the beauty of the sea, lay down your towel on the magical white beach surrounded by nothing but water. All the while you'll be able to enjoy the most delicious treats from the lunch package you'll bring along with you (order at the lodge accommodation). Another possibility to visit the islands is to sail there in a traditional boat called a dhow, an extremely relaxing experience. Sea fishing enthusiasts will enjoy their stay here. You can go deep sea fishing and try to hook an enormous Marlin or you can help the locals to reel in their fishing nets. Naturally you can also choose to enjoy a good book at the pool as well; it's all up to you!
